“Finally one place where we can make all the entries related to player’s health”

Kuopion Palloseura, or KuPS as everyone calls it, has been one of the earliest users of Heely. We wanted to meet with KuPS’s management in order to ask what they think about Heely.
Heely: Hi Janne, how is it hanging?
Janne: As the lead physician for the team, the past months have been very busy as we have been getting ready for the upcoming season, but other than that, all is good.
Heely: Start of the season is always a busy time for the teams, especially if you have player transfers. How has that gone?
Janne: Player transfers need special focus, of course. It’s a game of risks and opportunities. We have some idea of the performance of the players but health is a thing we need to look into carefully. Every team physician knows the pressure.
Heely: You have used Heely for the health inspections with new players. How did that go?
Janne: Well, to be honest, it is of course always a struggle when you have a new system and a process that you are learning to use. You need a bit more support and extra patience to learn it, as it is with all new systems, but once you get around it, the process works well.
Heely: Anything you would like to highlight especially?
Janne: Well, I must say that the pre-evaluation questionnaire in connection to players' health assessment, works really well. It reviews most of the health risks as it covers the athlete’s health history. Now we don’t need those endless papers and we can access the data easily. Also, the summary at the end of the whole health inspection is good.
Heely: How about with the existing players? Anything you want to mention in connection to them?
Janne: What I appreciate is the ready made process and comparability of the health assessments. We can do a full health assessment that is in line with the requirements set by UEFA, and we can collect the data. In a few years we will have a big database to use when comparing athletes and their potential.

Heely: Some of our potential clients are asking about the double work when it comes to record keeping. Meaning that physicians need to make double entries when doing the health assessment: one in their own databases and another one in Heely. What is your view on this?
Janne: The way I see this is that the data is accessible in Heely and I can make a short note to other systems. Also, Heely provides a summary of the health assessment which you can take and copy paste into your own system if wanted. Thus, there is not that much double work in my mind.
Heely: We have been talking mostly about the health assessment but how about the other features in Heely? What do you think about them?
Janne: Well, the biggest benefit comes from the one platform idea. To be able to store everything in place is a huge benefit. Physiotherapists can make their entries to Heely, and we can have our own follow-up templates. Until today, health data has been stored in various databases. Now you can store everything in Heely.
Heely: What are your expectations for the future when thinking of Heely? How should we develop it?
Janne: I think that bringing the tests into Heely will bring a lot of additional value. Especially for the physiotherapists and in that way for all users. I hope to see the digital interfaces to different systems soon as well.
Heely: thanks Janne for the comments. We hope for great success during the new season!
Janne: thanks!
